ACAC cancels winter athletics season

One day after Medicine Hat College opted to forgo the winter season for futsal, basketball and volleyball, the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference followed suit.

MHC was joined by the majority of the ACAC’s member schools in opting to forgo the season, leading to Wednesday’s announcement from the conference.

“Understandably this is a disappointing outcome for ACAC student-athletes, coaches, and supporters, however ACAC leaders are committed to working with ACAC-member institutions to determine when it may be safely possible to conduct post-secondary athletics once again,” reads the release.

“No decisions about the status of the 2021-22 season have been concluded at this time.”
