An Ontario-based utility firm building a wind farm near Jenner has invested in an Alberta company that focuses on power systems fuelled by flare or vented natural gas. Capstone Infrastructure, which is building the Buffalo-Atlee wind farm, announced on Oct. 30 that it has formed a partnership with Genalta Power Inc, though terms were undisclosed. That company focuses on heat recovery and gas-fired micro-generation systems at gas processing facilities and other remote energy facilities. “Our projects help (clients) lower their carbon footprint while improving operating efficiencies,” said Paul Miller, CEO of privately owned Genalta. “We are excited to be working with a progressive development partner and the alliance with Capstone will help Genalta unlock previously untapped potential in the flare-gas-to-power market in Canada.” Capston officials stated Genalta’s roster of industrial clients and Capstone’s financial support and operating experience were a good fit. Capston won portions of a renewable energy bid-in process held by the Alberta Electric System Operator in 2018 it’s proposal to built 11-turbine wind farm in Special Areas 2, 10 kms southeast of Jenner. The latest project update from the company details a construction start date of mid-2021. 8
