A man charged with beating up the owner of rival gas station in Walsh this summer when tensions from a price war escalated will only face two more serious charges, court heard this morning in Medicine Hat.

Anwar Ahmed Kamaran was to face trial on a simple assault charge on Monday in Provincial Court, but instead prosecutors dropped the charge and arranged to set a trial date on two remaining charges of assault causing bodily harm.

The court scheduled Nov. 10 as the day that the trail date would be set.

Police charged Kamaran in early August alleging that he was involved in altercations with three separate members of a family that managed a competing gas station and convenience store in Walsh, near the Alberta- Saskatchewan boundary on the Trans-Canada Highway.
