Trio with drug offence history facing charges after county bust

By Medicine Hat News on September 10, 2020.

A Cypress County man and two Calgarians previously charged with drug and gun offences have been arrested again after a police search of an acreage east of Medicine Hat.

Local organized crime investigators in the provincial ALERT network announced Tuesday that they seized nine firearms and $21,000 in drugs and cash. Five people are charged with a variety of weapons and narcotics offences.

The ALERT Unit of Medicine Hat and Redcliff RCMP searched the property on Sept. 4, seizing amounts of suspected methamphetamine (80 grams), cocaine (46 grams), fentanyl (20 grams), and hallucinogenic mushrooms (31 grams).

Charged are Denver Ailsby, 41, of Medicine Hat, who was one of two men charged in a late 2019 raid that, police say, recovered $20,000 worth of stolen property, weapons and some drugs.

Amanda Memme (also known as Montgomery), 48, and Keith McVittie, 50, both of Calgary, are also charged in connection to the recent search, as well as breaching court orders and conditions.

In May 2020 a separate ALERT investigation resulted in the pair’s arrest after 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine was allegedly recovered in what is believed to be the largest meth seizure ever by city police.

New charges are also laid this month against Pamela Drozdowski, 68, of Cypress County, and Tameka Hazelaar, 26, of Medicine Hat, in connection to the Sept. 4 search.

It’s not immediately clear when they will appear in court, or the current status of previous charges.
