Vehicle strikes power poll, knocking out power to 1,300 city addresses on Tuesday afternoon

By Medicine Hat News on August 26, 2020.

A car crash that tipped over a power pole in the city’s southwest knocked out power to 1,300 addresses on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 12:30 p.m, customers across the southwest industrial park, Tower Estates, and the Southwest Hill were without power after a single-vehicle crash damaged the pole and started a small grass fire near 10th Avenue and 25th Street.

Power was restored to all but 75 customers by 3 p.m., the city’s utility department reported.
