The Medicine Hat Thunder U19 fastpitch team closed out its season by sweeping a doubleheader against Strathmore, 4-1 and 11-2, on Saturday in Redcliff.
Mia Kelly was a force on the mound, pitching all 10 innings on the day and allowing just three runs on four hits while fanning 13 batters. The defence behind Kelly was also at its best, refusing to give up an error on its final weekend of action.
Mikayla Clarke led the way at the dish with two triples and 4 RBI while Kylie Finley and Maddy King both drove in 3 RBI in the victories.
“While the squad was limited in game action with the COVID restrictions they were able to keep their skills sharp this season in anticipation of hosting 2021 U19 provincials next summer,” Thunder head coach Scott Kelly said in an email sent to the News.
