Mitch Kurtz took home the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club championship this weekend, following up a 71 Saturday with a 69 Sunday to best the field by nine strokes. Darren Kruger followed Kurtz’s 140 with a 77-72-149 for the second low gross. Becky Martin clinched the ladies’ championship with an 85-80-165 – edging out runner-up Sharla Butler (93-93-186) by 21 strokes. In the senior men’s event, it was Kelly Risling who held on for the championship victory – shooting a 71-75-146 to defeat runner-up Gary Kavanaugh (74-75-149) by three strokes. Jean Nitchke took the senior ladies title with an 83-86-169, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Carol Kavanaugh (95-81-176). 6
