The Lions Club of Medicine Hat is bringing a bit of Stampede joy to Hatters this month.

The club will be set up outside Mike’s Meats on Aug. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a drive-by barbecue.

“It’s been a strange, crazy year,” said president James Higgins. “We figured doing a drive-by barbecue would be a good way to offer a bit of normalcy to people.”

The club will be offering burgers, corn and hotdogs for sale.

“We have a limited menu because of the circumstances,” said Higgins. “We’re doing single burgers. Every one will come with cheese and our famous fried onions.

“We’re going to cook the burgers, put them in a shell with cheese and condiments on the side.

“We don’t want to touch things more than absolutely necessary.”

All workers will be masked and gloved. The Lions are asking people to pay with debit or credit if possible.

It will be $6 for a burger, $3 for a hot-dog and $3 for a cob of corn.

Money raised will go back to the Lions Club of Medicine Hat.
