The Medicine Hat Exhibition held the first of three free drive-thru pancake breakfast events Wednesday outside the Cypress Centre.
There is another free breakfast today and one on Friday. Both run from 8-10 a.m.
The events are running in a drive-thru style and seating is not being provided by the Stampede.
“We’ve definitely got Stampede weather,” said general manager Jim MacArthur. “The best we can do this year is what we’re doing right now – inviting people for a drive-thru pancake breakfast.
“We had a big lineup this morning and we’re hoping people can come down and enjoy the food.”
While the annual Exhibition and Stampede was set to kick off Wednesday, it was cancelled completely due to COVID-19. MacArthur says it’s a tough year, but everyone understands.
“It’s been a tough year for us, but we’re doing what we can to make the best of the situation,” he said. “We put this together rather quickly, and we’re happy with how things are going so far.”
MacArthur says everyone is welcome to the breakfast as long as they are in an enclosed vehicle.

Why even bother with this? Line up with vehicles idling, and get $1 worth of food. Stay home, and make your own pancake.
