Ronald McDonald House Charities is holding its first provincial, virtual fundraising walk-run called #HustlefortheHouseAB.
The virtual event takes place the week of July 6-12 across the province. Participants choose the date, distance, time and location. RMHC says you can do a neighbourhood loop, run in the park or on trails or even use a treadmill at home.
It is an opportunity to put your running shoes on and support MRHC at a time when usual fundraisers have been significantly affected by COVID-19.
The goal is to raise $100,000 in the Hustle for the House virtual event.
Last year RMHC assisted Alberta families from 194 communities. The charity says that one in four Canadians has either stayed at or knows someone who has stayed at a Ronald McDonald House.
There is a registration fee for participants: adults, more than 18 years of age, pay $35; youth from 6-17 pay $20; and kids under six are free. Register by July 6 at rmhcalberta.org/events.
Participants have until midnight on July 12 to raise funds. Those who raise more than $100 receive a pair of red-striped socks and there are prizes for the top three fundraisers.
