Finlay Bridge is now closed to traffic as crews work to replace the decking of the bridge with concrete.
Pedestrian access will remain in place on at least one of the two walkways, but vehicle traffic will be detoured until the project’s completion in late September.
Last month council heard the resurfacing project would also replace the wooden decking beneath asphalt that remained after a major rehabilitation project in the mid 2000s, as well big abutments and bearings would be repaired.
Tepee inspection
The Saamis Tepee site will be closed to the public today (June 25) as the annual safety inspection of the 215-foot structure is conducted this morning. Weather permitting crews hope to begin at 6 a.m. and conclude in the mid-afternoon hours.
The closure involves areas directly under and around the teepee, not including the adjacent parking lot or trails.
Trails washed out
The Ajax Coulee and portions of the Riverside trail are closed following rainfall and erosion.
Crews will be repairing the washout in Riverside between Fifth Avenue NW and Third Street NW.
The Ajax Trail runs from the Lorne Holden ball diamond in Kin Coulee Park to 12th Street SW, in the community of Kensington.
