On day one of seniors week, staff at the Veiner Centre made a point of telling seniors how much they are missed.

At 1 p.m. a drive-by parade of seniors took place at the centre with message boards on display and staff waving to those in their vehicles.

The first 50 vehicles also received a special self-care gift bag.

June 1-7 is seniors week in Alberta, an opportunity to recognize and applaud seniors for their contributions to the community.

The city has had to modify the events it would normally host for this special week in order to maintain social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday at 1 p.m. there will be a live fitness video with Krista Olsson-Campbell. At 2 p.m. Christy at Paintergirl Murals & Decorative Painting will be host a Facebook live painting event. Check out the City of Medicine Hat Community Resources page on Facebook. You can also see a cooking show, Cooking With Community.
