The Official Opposition is refusing to comment on its complement of staff and their salaries.

Leader of the NDP, Rachel Notley, declined an interview this week to talk about Premier Jason Kenney’s office staff of 19 who make more than $2.9 million annually.

Kenney’s office has stated that under the NDP the salaries of that office were 21 per cent higher than the UCP’s.

Leah Ward, director of communications for the NDP caucus, said the NDP no longer had access to information about its staff complement and salaries while in power.

Early Thursday the News requested information about the NDP’s current complement of staff and salaries.

There has been no response.

Salaries for 19 political staff in Kenney’s office include two people making more than $224,000, four with salaries close to $200,000 and the balance receive more than $114,000 each for a total of more than $2.4 million.

Kenney has refused to do an interview about this.
