Pickup passenger dies when truck hit by train Friday east of Brooks, driver injured

A collision between a train and pickup truck near Brooks on May 8 resulted in one death and sent another man to hospital with serious injuries.

The RCMP says that the truck failed to yield at a crossing near Highway 1A and Range Road 143, east of Brooks. The truck’s passenger, a 50-year-old man from Lethbridge, died after being transported to the Brooks Health Centre, while the driver, a 60-year-old man from Lethbridge, was transported to hospital in Calgary via the HALO air rescue service.

There was no substantial damage to the train. The RCMP and CP police are investigating the accident.
