Some registry services will now be available for select services by telephone, secure email, fax or regular mail, the provincial government announced Tuesday. You can use remote services for corporate registry services, personal property services and motor vehicle services, such as vehicle registration renewals, replacement or cancellation of driver’s licences or ID card replacement and one-year driver’s licence with existing photo. There are some services that registry agents cannot process remotely such as a new driver’s licence or ID card application that require an updated photo and birth or death certificates. The Government of Alberta has identified registry agents as an essential service but some agents have voluntarily closed their offices while others may be operating with reduced hours. Phone ahead to ensure the office you wish to deal with is open. Albertans that require renewal of driver’s licences, ID cards and vehicle registrations that expire between March 17 and May 14 have until May 15 to renew them. 6
