Medicine Hat now has two confirmed cases of COVID-19. Here’s a look at more of a data.

Alberta has recorded its first death due to Corona virus — a 60-year-old man in Edmonton — while the number of cases in the south zone also rose.

City Operations
Officials made no change to the City of Medicine Hat emergency planning status on Thursday, but announced at a late day press conference that they will limit public access to City Hall and several other buildings as a way to further prevent the potential spread of the Corona virus.

Utility plan
At the same press conference, city officials announced there will be a three-month moratorium on utility disconnections as a way to ease concerns for residents who are in isolation or are out of work due to calls for social distancing that have led to a sharp decline in economic activity.
The city is also preparing to announce more information on how a provincial “utility bill deferral” plan will be implemented here.

Warmer weather
Spring officially arrives over night on Friday, and warmer temperatures are forecast in Southeast Alberta. Sunny conditions and plus-range temperatures are predicted through to Tuesday, including a high of 7C on Tuesday.
