The Medicine Hat Photography Club is displaying the work of a number of its members at Station Coffee downtown.
The club put up 18 pieces at the beginning of March and will have them up until the end of April.
“It was kind of an open theme this year – the theme we picked was ‘Glancing Notion,'” said president Robert Ingram. “We try to get out once or twice every year and do a bit of a show.
“This year we’re thankful to be able to show our work at Station.”
Ingram says the club always works to let its members display images.
“It’s really important to display your stuff,” he said. “It can give a lot of confidence to print something out and show it to a bunch of people like this.
“I had never printed something until I did my first show last year – that first show was a big step for me.”
The club sits around 35 members, with 18 having their work on display at Station.
The club is open to anyone in the community who is interested in learning more about photography. The first meeting is free for anyone looking for information.
“Even if people just want to ask questions, they’re welcome,” said vice-president Peter Mueller. “You don’t even need to have a camera to join the club.”
The group meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Cultural Centre and it encourages people interested in photography to come out and meet like-minded people.
“It’s a great mix of really friendly people.” said Ingram.
Art can be purchased at the coffee shop by asking one of the store’s employees.
“Members had a choice whether they wanted to sell their work,” said Ingram. “If there’s a price on it, it can be purchased right here at Station.”
