Bantam AAA Tigers swept by top seed Rebels

By Medicine Hat News on March 4, 2020.

They fought but the South East Athletic Club’s Tigers were simply no match for Red Deer in bantam AAA playoffs.

The Rebels completed a series sweep with a 5-2 win at Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre Tuesday.

Following Sunday’s 8-2 decision in Red Deer, SEAC kept close for 40 minutes. Dawson Seitz had two game-tying goals, one in each period, while Silas Currie did what he could in the Tigers net.

Shots were 27-6 for Red Deer entering the third period according to SEAC’s Twitter account. No final shot totals were available by press time.

Red Deer reported that Josh Perreault had two goals including the game-winner, while Emmett Barnett, Wil Christian and Rhett Miller had the others.

The Rebels went 28-2-3 in the regular season, more than doubling South East’s (11-19-3) point total. They move on the league semifinals against either the Calgary Flames or Bisons.

The Tigers won a playoff round for the second year in a row, beating Airdrie. They were also ousted by Red Deer in the second round last year.
