The Medicine Hat College women’s volleyball team has its ticket as conference playoff hosts, and can’t even change its place in the standings over the final four games of the regular season. That said, the Rattlers’ final two weekends before the big dance will be spent playing division rivals who they will likely face again with a lot more on the line. Time to scout? You bet. And also time for some final tune-ups. Tonight the 8-12 Rattlers host 12-8 Ambrose at 6 p.m., both teams locked into their spots as third and fourth respectively in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference South Division. Medicine Hat has lost its last six matches and will look to gain momentum. Ambrose won both prior head-to-head matchups in October, but needed five sets each time to do it. Amber Stigter continues to anchor the Rattlers offence with 2.59 kills per set, 10th in the ACAC. Lions right side Julia Kemper isn’t far back at 2.46, 14th. The matchup also showcases two of the conference’s best liberos in all-time ACAC digs leader Shaya Suchy (4.57 digs per set this season, second overall), and Ambrose counterpart Journey Flewell (3.59, fourth). The men’s game sees the 4-16 Rattlers and 1-19 Lions both out of playoff contention and looking to cap their seasons on a high note. The teams split their home-and-home series last semester. The women’s and men’s teams will rematch Saturday in Calgary. The regular season wraps up next weekend with Medicine Hat in Red Deer. 10
