Classic Albums Live returns to the Esplanade next week to perform Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Damn the Torpedoes.” The performance takes place Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. Classic Albums Live is not the regular tribute show. The band comes on stage plainly dressed and barely moves during the show. It’s not about the theatrics of a concert but entirely about the music. The show is a re-creation of the album – note for note and cut for cut. “All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album,” says founder Craig Martin. Hit songs “Refugee” and “Don’t Do Me Like That” were on “Damn the Torpedoes.” Classic Albums Live performances usually feature the album of the night in the first half, then other hits from the band or artist after a short intermission. Tickets are available at tixx.ca, by calling 403-502-8777 or in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk. The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” rounds out this series of shows on May 6. 9
