Family dispute in Brooks leads to stabbing, charges

Charges have been laid after a man was stabbed and another hit over the head in a family dispute, according to RCMP in Brooks.

Authorities were alerted when a shirtless man walking near a convenience store on Sutherland Drive appeared to be bleeding from the chest. An investigation determined that another man was suffering head trauma. Both were sent and subsequently released from hospital.

Charles Pantherbone, 30, of Brooks, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breaking his court ordered release conditions.

A bail hearing is scheduled to take place on Feb. 12.

Shop break-in

Mounties in Brooks are also seeking the public’s help in solving a break-in and theft of two large compressors in mid-December.

Authorities say that overnight on Dec. 13, thieves broke into the Double J Pressure Services shop in the South Industrial Park. A company truck was moved out of a bay, then returned once the equipment, valued at $2,000 was offloaded to another vehicle.
