The Medicine Hat Community Housing Society is celebrating 50 years in the community.
The group held an open house event Thursday, inviting community members into its building to share news on rebranding and about an updated website.
“We’re excited to show off our new brand and our new website,” said chief administrative officer Robin Miiller. “We’ve been delivering subsidized housing programs for 50 years and we really wanted to highlight our presence in the community.
“We wanted to use this as a public awareness tool to shine a light on how active we’ve been in the community and to let people know about the work we do.”
The organization started in 1970 and over the years has offered more for the community.
“About 20 years ago we enhanced our services but providing outreach support services for people who are struggling to maintain housing,” she said. “About 12 years ago we started the important work around our community’s plan to end homelessness.
“We’ve evolved significantly over the 50 years.”
Miiller says she thinks the new logo and colour schemes represent the not-for-profit well.
“The new logo has a stronger focus on community,” she said. “There is an ‘MH’ in our new logo and it has a symbolic pathway through it that reflects the journey of the people we serve are on.
“The ‘H’ stands for home and has a lock on it – we believe that with the right programs and services people will be able to open that door and begin their journey home.”
