Wednesday was Bell’s Let’s Talk Day to encourage conversations about mental health issues. It is an initiative Bell began in 2011 to address the “silence” and resulting stigma around mental health, said Premier Jason Kenney in a statement. “Few things in life are as universally relatable as mental illness – one in five of us will face it at some point – and yet few things are harder to talk about. Shame begets stigma, and stigma begets silence. So this quiet crisis continues, claiming lives and devastating families.” If you would like to share your personal story of mental health or some strategies that have worked for you, please contact the News. Your experience could be part of a follow-up story that will help to end the silence and reduce the stigma around mental health. Email: Gillian Slade, health reporter: gslade@medicinehatnews.com 6
