Semi driver faces charges in highway collision that claimed child’s life

By Medicine Hat News on January 30, 2020.

A semi-truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death stemming from a crash this summer near Oyen that claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy.

Three other members of a family were injured when their SUV collided with a tractor trailer on Highway 9 near Range Road 60, on Aug. 7, 2019.

The RCMP detachment in Oyen announced on Wednesday that Lowell Nathan Dyck, 37, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, and four counts each of negligence and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

His first court appearance is scheduled for April 22 in Hanna Provincial Court.

Johns charged

A prostitution sting operation in Grande Prairie resulted in charges against 37 men in that area over three days, the detachment there announced this week.

Men ranging in age from 19 to 57 were charged with solicitation after an early January investigation that was part of a targeted program to tackle priority crime.
