The Medicine Hat Tigers managed to escape Saskatchewan with a victory. After falling to the Saskatoon Blades in a 6-5 battle Friday, the Tigers entered the Art Hauser Centre Saturday and forced a 4-3 shootout victory from the hands of the Prince Albert Raiders. James Hamblin and Brett Kemp both scored in the shootout, while Mads Søgaard made 19 saves then stopped 2-of-3 shooters to secure the victory and push Medicine Hat to 30-14-1-1. Corson Hopwo kicked off the scoring in the opening minute of regulation, but the Raiders rallied to take over the lead through 20 minutes on goals from Matthew Culling and Landon Kosior. Daniel Baker struck late in the second to draw even, then Nick McCarry stole back the lead two minutes into the third period – but Kaiden Guhle scored with six minutes left to knot the game up yet again and force overtime. After sudden death couldn’t provide a winner, Hamblin scored on the backhand to open the shootout and put the pressure onto Prince Albert. While Ozzy Wiesblatt scored to extend the shootout in the third round, Kemp responded with one of his own to put the game away. Spencer Moe and Aliaskei Protas both missed for Prince Albert in the first two rounds. Tigers centre Ryan Chyzowski was stopped in the second. Raiders goaltender Max Paddock took the loss on 30 saves, dropping Prince Albert to 24-14-5-4. The Tigers return to the Canalta Centre Tuesday to host the Swift Current Broncos (10-31-1-3) at 7 p.m. 10
