Police are seeking public assistance in locating a suspect following a “high-risk incident” early Tuesday morning.
At 7:14 a.m., police put out a news release on their social media pages and app, saying the situation was occurring at a house the 900 block of Second Street SE, east of the police station and west of Lions Park.
An updated release from Tuesday evening says Adam Dawe, 39, was armed with a weapon and potentially a danger to himself and others.
“There was a third-party complaint that came in. Throughout the course of the investigation, his name came up and as things progressed we realized we needed to locate him,” explained Staff Sgt. Jason Graham.
He declined to elaborate on the nature of the complaint to “protect the victim.”
The suspect wasn’t located at the residence, so police extended their search to the downtown core.
Graham said he couldn’t specify which charges Dawe faces as a result of the incident, as an investigation is ongoing, but said he did have separate warrants out for his arrest for breaches of release conditions.
“Our charges haven’t been sworn yet,” he said.
Anyone with information on Dawe’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 and not approach him.
“There’s a firearm that we think is involved, so there are some issues there. We want people to be vigilant and if they see him, give us a call,” said Graham.
