Fire Dragon Taekwondo announced its newest black belt recipients Monday, just in time for the successful candidates to ring in the new year.
Testing took place Dec. 7 and 8 at the Medicine Hat studio, with top-level judges in attendance putting students through their paces.
The husband and wife team of Jason and Sandra Handley were among those adding a degree to their black belts, with Sandra getting her second and Jason his third.
Darian Keiver, Johnny Park, Nathan Seto and Zachary Cey also reached their third dan (degree) black belt as a result of the testing.
Second-degree black belts now include Handley, Edward Kim, Kannan Stickel and Robie Aberle.
Those earning their first black belt are Asher Akins, Denis Kim, Eric Tang, Joshua Denisoff, Kage Tresofski and Sam Xu.
The 15 members who earned new belts range in age from nine to 51.
