Warm weather and a warm message via cellphone to Terri Clark highlighted the annual stop of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train in Medicine Hat on Wednesday afternoon.

The fundraising journey across the company’s routes drew to a close later that night, and by unique scheduling made Medicine Hat one of the final stops on the U.S. tour.

That meant no repeat visit from hometown favourite Clark, who performed on the Canadian edition.

That didn’t stop performer Kelly Prescott from asking the crowd of about 400 to record a Christmas greeting for Clark to cap off the late afternoon event.

Headliner Meghan Patrick and Tanika Charles treated the gathered merry makers to Christmas favourites in a half-hour performance.

This year marks the 21st year that CP Rail has staged the tour that raises money and asks locals to bring donations for local foodbanks.

During a break in festivities, the company presented a cheque for $9,000 to the local Medicine Hat and District Foodbank.

The day began in Swift Current prior to stops in Maple Creek and Medicine Hat. The train disembarked for Tilley, Brooks and a final show in Gleichen.
