The people at Budget Blinds made sure to give back this Holiday season.

The business ran a Spread the Warmth program this winter and ended up raising 91 coats and snowsuits, 40 pairs of socks and slippers, 51 hats, 43 pairs of gloves, 24 pairs of undergarments and $500 toward the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society Legacy Fund. The donation is being matched, effectively making it $1,000.

“After learning that families at the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter had been struggling with all the snow and cold so far this winter, because kids did not have proper winter clothing, we thought that we could assist with keeping vulnerable members of our community with limited resources, warm on the outside during winter as well,” said part owner Jamie Graham. “The most vulnerable being children, so we focused on collecting children’s clothing, hoping that these donations could get the kids outside enjoying some time in the snow.

“We were overwhelmed with the response from our community, everyone came together to help us collect these much needed items. We are beyond grateful for the generosity from our customers who purchased cellular shades, our community members, friends and family, along with our industry partners who donated. Medicine Hat is truly an amazing community.”

The store is located at 1320 Kingsway Ave. and can be reached at 403-580-3203.
