Children’s area at library closed today for organizing

By Medicine Hat News on December 11, 2019.

The children’s section at the Medicine Hat Public Library will be closed for the day today as staff rearrange shelving in the Kinsmen Children’s Library.

The work will not affect a planned children’s Christmas sing-a-long that will take place from 6-7 p.m. in the library’s theatre hosted by Andrew Plait.

The library has also announced that the grand opening of the new “play space” that is being built in the children’s section will be held on Feb. 1, 2020.

Road work

Two intersections near Connaught Elementary School on the Southwest Hill will be closed for the remainder of the week as contracted crews continue to repair a water main.

Eighth Street at Second Avenue SW will be completely blocked while further east there will be no access to or from Division Avenue, though the major route will not be affected.

Detours and parking restrictions will be in place starting Wednesday morning until Sunday as crews repair leaks in a water main in front of the elementary school.

A release from the city states that due to unforeseen circumstances the contractor was unable to complete the work along with other work that took place this fall.

Motorists are asked to be cautious in the area and obey all detour and traffic signs.
