1941 – ANNA MARIE SYROISZKA – 2019
Anna Marie Syroiszka passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2019 at the age of 78.
She is survived by her two children; Coreen (James) Bozak of Medicine Hat and Carrie (David) Beaudoin of Hanna, AB; granddaughters, Jaycee and Delane; her sister, Josephine Koch; and sisters-in-law, Mary Sedun and Sophia Long. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Fred, in 2017; brother Paul; and her sisters Annie, Katherine and Veronica. She was born at Fox Valley, SK on November 12,1941. She worked for several years for Dr. R.J.Cousins until she met Fred. They were married June 10,1967 and celebrated their 50th anniversary. She will be lovingly remembered for the love and care she gave to her family and friends. Anyone who came to her home was always welcomed and she made sure they were well fed. Ann’s hospitality and care were genuine and this is reflected by the many friends that she has had in her life.

1941 ~ EVELYN “RUTH” LEES ~ 2019
Evelyn Ruth Lees of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of John Lees, passed away on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at the age of 77 years. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her children, John (Cheryl) Lees of Medicine Hat, Pamela (Troy) Strandberg of Cypress County, Bonny (Jeremy) Moulton of Senoia, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, Peter (Terri), Jamie (Victoria), Hannah (Tanner), Makailah, Austin, Seija, Jerricah, Nakitah, Rayah, Eleah, Montana and Jacoby; six great-grandchildren, Connor, Derek, Chloe, Brandon, Sarah and Jenna; sisters, Jean Wilson and Amy Hiebert; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Mary Benson; grandson, Joshua Moulton; and two sisters, Frances Johnson and Peggy Crate. Ruth was born in Estevan, SK on December 11th, 1941. She met and married the love of her life, John Edward Lees and they were married on June 7th, 1958 in North Portal, SK. They began their life together to in Winnipeg, MB and in the following years, they moved several times before settling in Redcliff and Medicine Hat for the last 42 years. Ruth’s work and service to her to the community took her down many different pathways. She was a foster parent, a childcare provider, and she also drove school bus for the Cornerstone Christian School. Ruth gave of herself tirelessly. She volunteered with the Pioneer Club, Awana Clubs, Daily Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School. Ruth was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and served on the Deacon Board and from 2003 through 2019 served as the Prayer Chain Co- ordinator. Ruth had a profound and deep love for her family, and together, she and John, raised their children in a home filled with love, laughter, and worship. In later years, her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Ruth will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. The Funeral Service will be held at TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 606 – 7th Street SW MEDICINE HAT, AB, on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bob McGougan officiating. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Lois Lorene Enns passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Ken Enns. JOSEPHINE KLEIN
September 22, 1923 – December 4, 2019
Josephine Pauline Klein, beloved wife of the late George Klein, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the age of 96 years. Left to cherish Josephine’s memory are her children: Diana (Joe) Reeves, Dennis (Bev) Klein, Peggy Klein, Marilyn (Harj) Hari, Gerard Klein; grandchildren: Greg (Tani) Klein, Josh Hari, Bretton Hari, Amanda (Alex) Coldham, Cameron Klein; great-grandchildren: Mila Klein and Oscar Klein; siblings, Bill (Julia) Hellman and Vanny (Sylvia) Hellman. Along with her husband of 70 years, George, Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Matthew (Barbara) Hellman; siblings, Cecilia (Emmanuel) Loran, Nick (Theresa) Hellman, Matthew (Selma) Hellman, Betty (Pat) Mooney, Clare (Joe) Redmond, Barbara (George) Peters, Jack (Lillian) Hellman, Anne Hellman and Father Harry Hellman. Josephine was born the ninth of twelve children and grew up on the family farm located south of Burstall, north of Richmound. After completing high school, she attended Normal School in Moose Jaw (1942). Josephine then returned to teach kindergarten at Etna School (1943) where she met George Klein, the love of her life. They were married in 1944. It was then that George left the family farm and took over the Hicke farm at Linacre. A short time later, they purchased the existing farm near Liebenthal. Josephine’s door was always open to family and friends. She loved to cook and bake which always allowed for great aromas coming from the kitchen. Josephine enjoyed going to daily mass, walking, bowling, dancing, playing cards, gardening, traveling, flowers, time spent with friends and taking care of people. She was a lifelong member of the CWL at both St. Patrick’s parish and Holy Family parish. Josephine was very devoted to her family… they will miss her immensely. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to Vigil Prayers which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be offered at the church starting one hour prior to the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
