The Hat High Mohawks fell short of their provincial goal on the road Friday. After clinching their sixth consecutive Rangeland Football Conference championship, the Mohawks had their season cut short with a 45-0 loss to the Cardston Cougars in the Tier 2 South final. “Very tough finish,” Mohawks head coach Quinn Skelton said in a text to the News. “We didn’t have a good night at all and Cardston played great. Lots of mistakes cost us.” Skelton added it was a particularly difficult night for his Grade 12 players, who he says served as “anchors” for the team in a rebuilding year. “(They) really kept us on course with such a young team,” he said. “Physically we had a great effort but too many mistakes made the difference in field position and the scoreboard.” 6
