1933 ~ Major (retired) N.H. Barrett ~ 2019

It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to our dearly loved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Friend. Nelson Howard “Hank” passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1st, 2019 at the age of 85 years surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kim, Tim (Laurie), Cheryl, Brent (Kerry); grandchildren, Travis, Alicia (Dan), Kiersten (Ryan), Joshua (Steph), Kendra (Mark) and Michael (Jaylene); Brothers, Roger, Cecil (Roma) and Bob (Aldean); Sister, Joan (Nick); numerous Nieces and Nephews; and extended family and friends. Nelson was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine; parents, Reg and Edith; infant son, Scott; and seven siblings. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL MEMORIAL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z5, on Monday, October 7th, 2019 at 11:00 am with Gary W. Goran officiating. Members of the Redcliff Legion Branch #6 will conduct a Poppy Service for their comrade. A private interment will be held at Redcliff Cemetery. 1939 ~ ELFRIEDA EICHELE ~ 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elfrieda Eichele on Monday, September 30, 2019. Elfrieda started her secretarial career at Anderson Desharnais Insurance Company, moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan where she worked for the Weyburn City Police Department, and finally London Life Insurance Company in Medicine Hat. A life-long learner, Elfrieda spent many hours reading biographies, cookbooks, and world history. Her passions included researching, baking, gardening, and personal finance. She attained a wealth of information and wisdom over her lifetime. Her mentorship, sense of humor, and willingness to listen will be missed by all who relied upon her. Elfrieda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Jakob; daughter, Audrey (Brad) Pavelich; son, Richard (Lorette Dube); grandchildren, Scott, Aaron, and Blake Pavelich; brother, Alfred (Jillian) Ferchau; sisters-in-law, Lilly (William) Seifried, Francis Ferchau, Ellen (Paris Koukis) Ferchau; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Elfrieda was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Selma Ferchau and her brother, Carl. The funeral service will be held at ST. CLIFFORD TRAXLER

1944 ~ 2019
It is with heavy hearts that Barbara announces the passing of her beloved husband, Clifford Merle Traxler at St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice, Medicine Hat on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the age of 74 years. Cliff was born in Medicine Hat and raised in the Etzikom district where he attended the Etzikom School. Cliff married Barbara Rose Ellen Heitrich on July 12, 1969. He worked at Cole Farm Equipment for a number of years before farming in the Etzikom area until 1995, when at this time he continued to farm in the Orion area. Cliff enjoyed family functions and usually contemplated what prank he would pull next on the unsuspecting victim. He enjoyed travelling to auction sales and rodeos as well as spending numerous hours either on horseback or working with one of the many horses that had been on the farm. Cliff was a member of the Manyberries Community Assoc. and the Etzikom Roping Club. His memory will be treasured in the hearts of his wife, Barbara; children, Shane Traxler, Vickie Elhart (Arthur Burgess); grand- children, Dylan Seefried, Ryder and Grace Becker; Arthur’s children, Tristen, Teyarah (Chris), Tessa, Teagan; great-grandchildren, Carson, Kinsley, Arya and Heidi. Cliff will also be remembered by his sister, Elaine (Doug) Mueller; brother, Grant (Marie) Traxler and a special nephew, Rick Heitrich and his daughter, Robin Heitrich; niece, Kathy LaChapelle as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Faith Traxler; nieces, Karen and Laurie; sisters, Grace Tucker, Claudia Halverson and Ruth Webster. The family will celebrate Clifford’s life with a private family gathering at a later date. MORRICE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Steven “Mike” Morrice on Thursday, September 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 55 years. Mike is survived by his wife of 26 years Bonnie, his daughter Stevie (Donivan) and his son Reid (Shani). He is also survived by his brother Ken Morrice and his father Sandy Morrice, Bonnie’s family Rod and Jodie Mirosovsky and Pav and Glenn Friesen, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his mother Ann, his brother Johnny in infancy, his mother-in-law Mary Mirosovsky and his brother-in-law Jeff Mirosovsky. Mike was born and raised in Medicine Hat and graduated from McCoy High School in 1982. He then attended the Medicine Hat College taking Power Engineering graduating in 1984. Mike began his career at Alberta Linseed Oil; moving next to Shell in Pincher Creek then on to Shell in Caroline. During this time, Mike met a girl at Hootenanny in the Hills and on June 5, 1993 that girl became his wife. Bonnie and Mike were both passionate about travel and had a strong desire to see the world. The couple made their home in Sylvan Lake and began working on their family. Stevie was born on May 1, 1995 and was quickly followed by Reid on October 20, 1996. With their family complete, it was time to make their dream a reality. After 13 years in Sylvan Lake, they were bound for the Middle East calling Doha, Qatar their home for the next 13 years, where Mike became known as “Spank of Arabia”. During this time, Mike was employed with Ras Gas, one of the world’s largest LNG plants, where he quickly climbed the ladder of success and enjoyed many accomplishments in his field of expertise. With the kids back in Canada, Bonnie and Mike were planning their next move and had decided to make Thailand their next destination when Mike was gifted the opportunity to work offshore. It was during this time that Mike started to display symptoms of what would later be diagnosed as ALS. Immediately after this diagnosis, the doctor told Mike and Bonnie “whatever you wanna see or do, do it now.” With this, they decided to fulfill their dream and moved to Thailand. The family enjoyed five wonderful months of Thailand’s beauty and the company of many visitors from all over the world. On May 26th, they arrived back in Sylvan Lake where they remained until his passing. Mike was passionate about hockey and never missed an Oilers game even from the middle of the desert. He also loved golfing and travel and was able to combine these passions in the many countries he visited. Mike’s latest passion was cycling, and he was training for a marathon when he was diagnosed with ALS. Out of all Mike’s passions and accomplishments, his family and kids were his greatest joy. Mike will truly be missed by his family and so many friends from all over the world.
