Vikings land at sixth in Alberta after key victory

By Medicine Hat News on September 10, 2019.

The Crescent Heights Vikings are where they hoped they’d be in Football Alberta’s rankings after a big win, which is to say no longer unranked.

Friday’s 20-13 win in Brooks was notable not just to get the Vikings some momentum, but also because the Buffaloes had been given the No. 7 spot in the Tier 3 provincial rankings board.

It’s mostly subjective but there was no doubt the Medicine Hat school would spring up. And spring they did, all the way to No. 6 in the new rankings released Sunday. Brooks fell to No. 9.

Next up is a game in Taber Friday against W.R. Myers.

Hat High’s 51-6 crushing of McCoy merely held them steadfast at No. 6 in the Tier 2 rankings, though their next opponent presents a much greater opportunity and challenge. The Mohawks head to Okotoks Friday to play Holy Trinity Academy, now the No. 1 team in Tier 2 after a 41-0 shutout of Rundle College.

The Colts are slated to host Pincher Creek Saturday.
