Hellers win another mixed doubles title

Calvin and Tracy Heller defended their crown as mixed doubles champions with a straight sets victory over Kassie Bourassa and Cory Streifel in Saturday’s Medicine Hat Open final.

The 6-2, 6-0 victory marks the husband-and-wife duo’s fifth straight championship at the Open, and their sixth overall.

Bourassa and Streifel also reached the final in last year’s mixed doubles Open, where they fell 6-3, 7-6 to the Hellers.

Reina and Jordan Schibler took home the consolation crown with a three-set comeback victory over CoraLee Riehl and Jehan Marco, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Linda Norris and Jackson Wenzel teamed up to win the intermediate championship with a three-set comeback over Gabi and Brock Hale, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, while Lily and Gary Laurent defeated Rocheal and Mak Howes in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1, for the intermediate consolation title.
