LEIS

Emil Leis of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the age of 90 years, beloved husband of the late Martha Leis. He leaves to cherish his memory three children Rose (Richard) Rusk of Vancouver, Allan (Marilyn) Leis of Medicine Hat, and Daniel (Karma) Leis of Lethbridge, his six grandchildren Andrew (Kate), Emily (Craig), Brendan, Craig, Brock (Kristy), Cody (Dominique) and their daughter Olivia, one sister Herta Link, two brothers Gustav (Joyce) Leis, Adolf (Bonnie) Leis, one sister-in-law Frieda Wahl as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Martha Leis on June 13, 2009; his parents Emilie and Gustav Leis, one brother Dieter Leis, one brother-in-law Waldemar Link, and one sister-in-law Rita Leis. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m and at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Wednesday, from 12:30 – 1:25 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the St. Peter Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. MONTEAN

Pat Montean passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the age of 71. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Nicole Yaworsky (David Yaworsky); sisters Sharon Enslen, Irene Sullivan; brother Danny Sullivan; as well as her nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her parents Johnina and Kenneth Sullivan; sister Helen Wigard; and nephew Ken Wigard.
A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and social workers from Home Health Care as well as the nurses and doctors from 4West at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Pat was born and raised in Medicine Hat until 1978 when she moved to be closer to family in Sechelt, B.C. She later moved back to Medicine Hat in 1982. Throughout her time in Medicine Hat she worked at Husky Restaurant, Black's Sport Centre, Trukkers Restaurant and Care Cabs. After retiring, Pat filled her time with reading. Her greatest joy was watching the Olympics and Calgary Stampede on TV.
At Pat's request there will be no formal funeral service held. In memory of Pat donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Lung Foundation.

SHANE POLLOCK

September 5, 1950 ~ August 11, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of their father, brother, uncle and papa, Shane Aldric Pollock. Shane was born on September 5, 1950, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and grew up between there, the family ranch in British Columbia and Tenasket, Washington. He joined the U.S Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam War. Shane met the love of his life, Nadine Gosnell on a blind date in Eastend, Saskatchewan and they were married on October 9, 1976. The two of them started their journey together in Maple Creek. Shane and Nadine loved raising their children and attending many of their sporting events and activities. They also enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking together and according to family they were joined at the hip and shared the same passions. Shane and Nadine’s final home together was in Medicine Hat, Alberta where Shane retired from working as a federal employee. Following Shane’s retirement, he spent many hours with the family dog, Gambit and working as what he liked to call himself, Hector the house boy. He was a compassionate and loving man and was always there to lend a helping hand. Shane was always good for a laugh, even during the tough times. He was a die-hard Roughriders and Maple Leafs fan and you would often find him sporting the color green. In 2012, Shane had to say goodbye to his beloved wife, Nadine far sooner than he ever could have imagined. Following Nadine’s passing, Shane did his very best to continue on living and enjoyed his annual trips to Fort Mohave, Arizona where he met up with friends and family to enjoy the sunshine and escape. He made so many new friends and countless memories and while he was away, his friends and family back home always looked forward to his return in the spring. When Shane returned from Arizona you could find him with his second family at Yukio Kennels which became his home in the summertime. Shane leaves behind his children, Tyson Pollock (Buffy) and Melissa Theoret (Keith) along with his grandchildren, Luka, Jonas, Elina, Zoey, Isabella, Emmett and Leland. Shane also leaves behind his brother’s, Garry Pollock (Marlis), Harley Pollock (Elaine), Joe McDonald (Bernie), Greg McDonald, George Paulsen and step-mother, Merrit Paulsen. He will be missed by so many more including friends, in-laws, and nieces and nephews who loved him. Shane was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Nadine; mother-in-law, Olive MacRae; father–in-law, Doug Gosnell; both of his parents, Beatrice McDonald and Alfred Pollock; brother-in-law, Kevin Gosnell; sister, Shelly McDonald and his brother, Cory Paulsen. Shane will be deeply missed by his family and those who loved him. May he find peace in knowing that he is once again walking hand in hand with Nadine. WENZ

Alvin Wenz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the wonderful age of 99 years. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Valerie, his daughter Cheryl Wenz and Valerie’s daughter Trisha McGowen of Calgary. Also surviving him are five nieces and nephews Delores, Pam, Dalyce, Gwen and Stewart. He was predeceased by his parents Magdalena and Jacob Wenz, his two brothers John Wenz and Clarence Wenz, his four sisters Martha Saklofsky, Tillie May, Alma Geigle, and Alice May. Alvin was born on the family farm at Sandy Point, Alberta on November 27th, 1919. He spent decades there as a dedicated, hard working, humble farmer and rancher. The Wenz family received the Alberta Century Farm and Ranch award in 2011 honouring 100 years of continuously farming the original homestead. In retirement, Alvin enjoyed gardening, travel, and camping with those he loved most. Alvin liked attending local rodeos with his brothers John and Clarence. This kind and gentle man was able to stay in his own home until this month due to the unbelievable love and care of his wife and daughter Cheryl. The family wishes to thank the special and considerate care provided by Dr. Bratvold. Appreciation also goes to the Home Care staff. Happy trails cowboy, job well done. At Alvin’s request no funeral service will be held. A private family remembrance celebrating Alvin’s life will take place at a later date.
