Hat soccer teams medal at provincials

By Medicine Hat News on August 14, 2019.

While Medicine Hat’s under-15 girls soccer team won bronze as provincial hosts this past weekend, three other Rattlers Academy Soccer Club squads were spread out across the province at provincials of their own.

Both the under-19 and under-13 boys wound up with bronze medal performances.

In Calgary for the under-19 Tier 2 boys provincials, RASC went 1-1-1 to finish third out of four teams.

Arlind Musliu and Kenton Ast scored in a 3-2 loss to Calgary West. Ast and Adam Khan had the goals in a 2-2 draw with WHU Sounders. Their 5-3 win over SWU Premiers Sunday saw Samuel Hardenne score twice and Ardit Zejnullahu, Nick Staruiala and Austin Heringer once.

The Rattlers under-13 boys went 2-1-1 at their Tier 2 provincials in Lethbridge, finishing third in the five-team division.

Ghaiel Miranda had two goals in a 4-1 win over Spartans Legends Friday, with Mitchell Bonneville and Evyn Lewis netting the others. Jack Schottenbauer had a pair in a 4-2 win over PSA Vengeance Saturday, with Miranda and Hudson Mastel also scoring. Ashraf Ismail had both goals in a 2-2 tie with Scottish, then Harry Measor had the lone goal in a 4-1 loss to Xtreme Sunday.

Also in Lethbridge for boys under-15 Tier 2 play, Medicine Hat’s entry went 2-1-1 including a 3-0 win over the host team in the fifth-place game. Kelton Flaig was credited with three goals in a 3-3 tie with MSB Destroyers Friday. Flaig and Anthony Gilmore scored in Saturday’s 7-2 loss to St. Albert. Flaig had a pair while Duncan Markie, Kian Simon and Gavin Millington scored in a 5-1 win over Xtreme but it wasn’t enough to crack the medal round. Simon, Anas Ismail and Caleb Ebel had the goals against Lethbridge.
