Medicine Hat’s biggest pickleball tournament ever is at the midway point and already there are medals being handed out.
The Nissan Showdown in the Hat saw 16 teams entered in Thursday evening’s Dink War (dink is a pickleball term for a short shot), with two Calgary teams meeting in the final.
Marv Macoy and Javier Ruiz won over the father-daughter team of Kim Layton and Dalton Harding.
Medicine Hat’s Dwight Berg and Gord Masson took bronze.
Men’s singles and women’s doubles were played Friday, with mixed doubles Saturday, then women’s singles and men’s doubles set to wrap up the tournament Sunday.
