Medicine Hat’s entry at the Alberta Little League Intermediate Divisional Championship got to Saturday’s final in Lethbridge, but a dominant home team stopped them from getting any further.
The Lethbridge Bisons earned a 7-0 win, led by pitcher Joseph Seo who struck out 16 batters according to the Lethbridge Herald.
Seo only walked one batter, while his squad completed a perfect 4-0 record to advance to nationals in Langley, B.C.
Medicine Hat lost 11-0 to the Bisons in the round robin and would have needed to beat them twice to win the tournament.
No information on Medicine Hat’s other games was reported.
Major AAA
Medicine Hat’s major AAA all-star team geared up for divisional playdowns with a home tournament this past weekend.
The Hat side went 4-1, losing the final 6-2 to Oyen Sunday at Lovell McDonnell Park.
After beating Bow Ridge 12-8 Friday, the host team put up back-to-back 15-2 wins over Cochrane and South Chief Saturday to get to the playoff round.
They needed a tense 15-14, extra-inning win over Lethbridge to get to the final, the final run coming on a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Major divisionals are set to start this weekend in Calgary.
Major AA
Medicine Hat’s major AA team was in Moose Jaw this past weekend according to Little League Alberta’s website.
Scores posted to the site suggest the team went 3-1. They beat Chinook West 11-9, Southwest Little League 10-3, then lost 4-2 to Moose Jaw before beating North Regina 19-6.
