Goodyear’s local union workers have new deal into 2022

By Medicine Hat News on June 9, 2019.

Unionized workers at Goodyear have a new contract through mid-2022, according to the latest edition of an Alberta Labour ministry bulletin.

About 185 workers at the plant in Medicine Hat, represented by the United Steelworkers Local 628, had ratified the contract which takes effect retroactively to June 2018. It continues through July 2022 and provides wage increases in the range of 20- to 25-cents per hour in each year.

That equates to increases of about 0.75 per cent each year of wage rates for production workers according to the previous contract, which follows the same general formal for wage increases.

There is no immediate information about changes to benefits or other aspects of the contract.

Publications from the ministry were delayed due to the April 16 provincial election, and as such, collective bargaining reports for March and April were delayed until this week.
