The Medicine Hat Sun Devils are putting it all together with the home stretch in sight.

The Sun Devils rallied to sweep their weekend with a 11-4 win over the Sabrecats Saturday in Calgary and a 10-6 victory over the Olds Stingers on Sunday at the Moose Recreation Centre.

“I think finally everyone is starting to click a little bit,” said captain Aidan McLean, whose Sun Devils sit 6-4 with four games left in the regular season. “We had a tough first half of the season but I think this season half has been easier and it’s really just letting us practice the things we need to practice and not get slammed every game.”

Izaak Loran led the attack in Sunday’s win with four goals, while Noah Weimer added a hat trick and an assist, McLean had three goals and two assists.

“The guys are settling into the plan,” said Sun Devils head coach Chris Loran. “We’re moving the ball well and just taking it to the offensive side of things instead of always playing defence.”

The Stingers had goals from six different players Sunday, with Jesse Schmidt and Carson Ogloff leading the way with a goal and an assist each.

McLean led the way in Saturday’s victory with an eight-point performance, scoring six times and adding a pair of assists. Loran says his captain has been poised to break out for a while, so it was nice to see him take command in Calgary.

“He’s been waiting for it, for sure,” said coach Loran. “He’s had lots of opportunities and it’s nice to see him finally put some in the back of the net.”

McLean says everything just seemed to click in the lopsided victory.

“It was just working,” he said. “The stick was feeling good. Everything was going right.”

Loran scored twice and added three assists, while Weimer had a goal and four assists.

Matthew Brunton had a hat trick for Calgary. Eric Rowan rounded out the scoring.

The Sun Devils return to the Moose to host the Strathmore Venom on Saturday and the Calgary Wranglers Sunday.
