Eight-year-old spends the day as Medicine Hat Police Service chief

By Medicine Hat News on May 18, 2019.

Eight-year-old Max Williams was sworn in Friday as Medicine Hat Police Service’s chief for the day.

According to a news release from the MHPS, Williams received the honour by donating to a local non-profit organization.

His itinerary for the day included a meet-and-greet with the victim’s assistance dog Mulder, a tutorial on obtaining fingerprints and a K-9 unit demonstration, as well as tours of a patrol and rescue vehicle.

Insp. Brent Secondiak presided over his swearing in.

“I do swear that I will be a good chief and uphold the law,” was the oath Williams read.

As his first act as chief, Williams decreed that all MHPS staff must carry around a Batman lunchbox in case they get hungry.
