One week into the local high school season, the Hat High Mohawks are already on the move for a rare road trip to the United States.

The Mohawks are in San Diego this week for a tournament, losing their first two games but more importantly learning lots thanks to tough competition.

On Monday they fell 1-0 to Linfield Chrstian, and on Tuesday it was a 4-1 loss to Valley Arts.

Linfield scored its lone run in the sixth inning off Mohawks pitcher Ashtyn Street, who struck out six in a complete game effort. Hat High only managed two hits however.

Tuesday’s game was tied 1-1 after Hayden Hall singled home Tory Nelson in the fourth inning. Valley loaded the bases and scored all three in the sixth however, then ended the game by holding the Mohawks bats at bay in the seventh.

Nelson went five innings, striking out five and scattering four hits. Austin Moch took the loss in relief .

On Wednesday Hat High plays Morse High School.
