The City of Medicine Hat is seeking community feedback on how it manages snow and ice control through two open house events and an online survey. “While memories of last winter are still fresh, we hope the community will share their thoughts about winter road maintenance with us by attending one of the open houses we’re holding,” Michael Knight, municipal engineer with municipal works, said in a release. “A survey will be presented at the open houses. The feedback and ideas we receive will play an important role throughout our review.” The city hasn’t reviewed its snow and ice control practices since 2011. The goal is to complete the review in early 2020. Besides listening to the community, municipal works will also look at industry best practices and new technology available. “This is a starting point for future conversations about the service levels that we provide,” said Knight. Open houses will occur April 4 at the city’s municipal works facility at 188 Kipling St., and April 9 in the Sage Room at the Family Leisure Centre. Both sessions run from 4:30-7 p.m. On April 4, the city will launch its Snow and Ice Control Community Survey, which will run until April 25. 9
