Voters will have improved voting opportunities in this provincial election, including an extra day of advance poll voting, says Alberta’s chief electoral officer Glen Resler. Election day is April 16 and advance polls will take place from April 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone who will be away those dates has the option of a special mail-in ballot. You must be at least 18 years of age by April 16 to be eligible to vote. You can already register to vote through a self-service process online or by calling the Elections Alberta call centre 1-877-422-8683 Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To register online you will need an Alberta driver’s licence or identification card to validate your identity. If you telephone the call centre no identification is required. The new provincial electoral boundaries are now in effect and will be reflected on the personalized, where-to-vote, cards that will be mailed out to each registered elector before the advance polls.
