QuitCore: A six-week quit-smoking workshop through AHS starts in Redcliff on Feb. 25

A tobacco-cessation workshop program will be taking place in Redcliff starting later this month.

The evening workshops take place Monday evenings for six weeks — Feb. 25 to April 1.

QuitCore, the Alberta Health Services workshops, provide tools and support to help people build a tobacco-free lifestyle. The workshops are conducted by trained professionals that teach tobacco users how to develop a plan to quit, provide strategies to address recovery symptoms, manage stress and prevent relapse. The workshops are also a great way to connect with other participants who are trying to quit smoking.

QuitCore takes place from 6-7:30 p.m. each Monday at the Redcliff Library, located at 131 Main St. S. To register to participate call 1-866-710-7848.

Tobacco is the leading preventable cause of disease, disability and premature death in Alberta with more than 3,000 deaths annually. Even more Albertans have tobacco-related illnesses.
