Police are still looking for suspects in two separate vandalisms of Medicine Hat College’s rainbow crosswalk.

The incidents occurred mere days after its unveiling in late September, when two people dressed in black poured white point over the crosswalk, and November, when it was defaced with tire skidmarks.

The crosswalk was put in place to show MHC’s support for LGBTQ students.

Medicine Hat Police Service S-Sgt. Kelsey Fraser says it’s still “considered an open file.”

The MHPS released video surveillance footage of the first incident, but Fraser said their poor quality makes it difficult to definitively identify any suspects.

“It’s pixelated, so we have no definitive persons of interest yet,” he said. “We can’t get an ID off that video. It’s like two blobs on a screen.”

Anyone with further information can call the MHPS at 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477.
