Community events for Christmas are about to commence. The information below is by no means comprehensive but has been taken from information currently available.

Saturday, Dec. 15

— 7:30 p.m. — Winter Christmas Concert by Medicine Hat Concert Band Society at the Esplanade.

— 7 p.m. — It’s a Wonderful Life — radio theatre at Hat High. Tickets at the door or through TIXX.

Sunday, Dec. 16

— 10 a.m. — Service, choir presenting a Christmas Cantata “People of Christmas” at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church.

— 7 p.m. — Christmas in song and verse at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Joyful Hearts Choir, 758 Eighth St. SE.

Wednesday, Dec. 19

— 7:30 p.m. — The Tartones, a Medicine Hat male choir, at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 504 Second St. SE.

Thursday, Dec. 20

— 7 p.m. — Longest Night Service for those who carry a burden of sorrow or sadness through the holiday season. St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 504 Second St. SE. The evening includes scripture for hope in darkness and joy in the midst of suffering.

Friday, Dec. 21

— 5 p.m. — The third annual Christmas Dinner at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church in partnership with the Salvation Army. Anyone in need or alone is invited to see the Salvation Army for a free ticket to this event.

Sunday, Dec. 23

— 8:30 a.m. — Communion service at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 Fourth St. SE.

— 10:30 a.m. — Service of lessons and carols at St. Barnabas Anglican, 635 Fourth St. SE.

Monday, Dec. 24

— 5 p.m. — Christmas Eve Mass at St. Patrick’s Parish, 238 Second Ave. NE.

— 5:30 p.m. — Contemporary family service of communion St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 Fourth St. SE.

— 5:30 p.m. — Family candlelight service at Victory Lutheran Church, 2793 Southview Dr.

— 5:30 p.m. — Family service with carol singing at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church.

— 6 p.m. — Candlelight service “Gift To The King” at First Assembly, 395 Ninth St. SE.

— 6:30 p.m. — Christmas Eve service at Heights Baptist Church, 1250 Division Ave. S.

— 7 p.m. — A candlelight and communion service at Victory Lutheran Church, 2793 Southview Dr.

— 7:30 p.m. — St. John’s Presbyterian Church Christmas Eve service, 504 Second St. SE. A service for all ages to welcome the Christ child.

— 10 a.m. — Service at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church will be reflecting on the 200 anniversary of the beloved carol “Silent Night.”
