Medicine Hat’s Jordan Mortlock is going to the Canada Winter Games.
The 17-year-old who’s played in Kelowna with the Pursuit of Excellence team in high school was named to Alberta’s under-18 roster for the 2019 Games in Red Deer.
The defenceman played at home through bantam AAA with the South East Athletic Club before moving to further her hockey career.
She’ll be joined on the 20-player roster by five other POE teammates.
“Our staff is really excited about this team,” said Team Alberta head coach Carla MacLeod in a press release. “It has been a process to get to this point and all the girls involved have been a pleasure to work with.
“To play at the Canada Winter Games in Alberta is an honour that we cannot wait to experience.”
Mortlock also played on the provincial team last year at under-18 nationals. That team finished fifth with a 1-2 record.
Her POE team is a perfect 9-0 so far this season.
The upcoming games run Feb. 15-March 3 in Red Deer.
