12-year-old pedestrian struck: Police seek assistance as woman drives boy home after hitting him with her truck

The Medicine Hat Police Service is requesting public assistance with information on a youth being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say at about 3:20 p.m., a dark-coloured four-door pickup truck hit a 12-year-old male while the boy was crossing the street at a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Carry Drive and Southview Drive.

The female driver of the pickup then drove the boy to his home before leaving without providing contact information. Police describe a potential witness as an older male with grey hair driving a blue car, which had stopped at the crosswalk.

MHPS requests the driver of the pickup and the witness, or any member of the public with information on the incident, contact Const. Rasmussmen of the traffic unit at 403-529-8481.
